Andy CoxACR was formed in 1992 by Andy Cox. After realizing a successful driving career in karts Andy stumbled at that familiar hurdle of raising a budget to graduate to car racing. So instead he focused his attention on using his profile in karting and the rest as they say is history!

ACR started it’s collaboration with chassis giant Birel Spa in 1995. President of Birel Mr Oscar Sala invited Andy Cox to its headquarters in Lissone near Monza, Italy. Birel was keen to get involved in the UK market, a market that they had last been involved with in the early eighties. And so it began, with the Birel chassis taking 2nd place in the 1995 British Super One Championship upon its return to UK market.

In 2002 Birel President Oscar Sala handed over the main company affairs to his son Ronni Sala; Ronni had entered Birel Spa in 1994 and had been in charge of re building the companies Official race team “Birel Motorsport” after Birel had been absent from the International racing scene officially since 1989.

Today Andy Cox and Ronni Sala have forged a strong collaboration. Both aged 36 years old the pair work closely together and their successful relationship is integral to ACR’s and Birel’s success in the UK. ACR has expanded year on year and with the Birel brand ACR has become a major player in the UK karting market.

In 2004 ACR purchased its present home in Bromsgrove with a brand new 3500 SQ feet purpose built factory. With the historic ties between ACR and Birel Spa it was only natural to name the new building “Lissone House” after the small town where Birel Spa is situated. With the new ACR building secured the companies sales increased with major successes in 2005 with sales of over 250 Birel chassis.

Oscar & Ronni SalaThe Birel product line is the secret to the success of ACR. The company is able to diversify in the different markets of karting and offer a good choice of products to their customers. The Birel Motorsport chassis range covers all Rotax categories and the KF CIK classes, whilst the Birel EasyKart line is a hugely successful economic mono brand aimed at getting new drivers into the sport of karting. Lastly, the latest innovation from Birel is the new Birel N35 corporate kart line which is already bringing Birel’s pedigree to indoor and outdoor corporate tracks with customers such as Club 100 and Daytona utilizing the new Birel N35 kart with amazing results.
