BIREL 2012 24 HOUR – WHAT'S NEW

New 15 hp Honda engines, live TV broadcast by Primocanale Sport and new location at Ala track for the classic Endurance marathon scheduled over 30 June weekend

Birel management have officially presented the 14th edition of the 24 Hour Karting, an event which has become an international success.

As a matter of fact, the number of foreign participants has increased over the years, and two teams from Poland, one from Portugal and one from the Czech Republic are likely to participate in the 2012 edition.

Karts for this competition have always been assigned at random, with Birel's highly professional racing division directly in charge of central vehicle technical management.

In addition to technical service, the enrolment fee also includes all logistics services, for instance boxes featuring monitors updating live timing for each team, the paddock club with the Hospitality point for the race secretariat and drivers' chill-out area, as well as technical clothing for teams requiring it.

The race has always boasted over 250 drivers on the track, divided into 30 teams, but the organisers' new goal is to increase the latter figure to roughly 40. The 2012 edition, to be raced over the 30 June weekend at Ala circuit, is packed with fresh ideas whose aim is to achieve such ambitious target.

The most remarkable and awaited new feature involves technical equipment, which will include the new  15hp Honda engines. Such innovation will guarantee great performances and even more exciting driving without prejudicing safety, even for less experienced teams.

Chassis wise, it will still be reliable and fun N 35. The second change involves the communication plan connected to the race which, for the first time, will benefit from live TV broadcast.

Yes, because, a couple of days ago, Birel group undersigned an agreement with Primocanale Sport, which will follow the event with an outstanding production and several hours live on SKY 515 channel, as well as in streaming on the event official website (coseonline.com).

The production schedule will be illustrated in detail over the next days; at any rate, it should include no. 4 3-hour live slots and a television studio on the track, which will also welcome the drivers and the team managers of the different teams.

In addition to updates on the race, other insights will be proposed from the studio, giving all teams a high degree of visibility. Still on the communication side, the partnership with monthly magazine TKART is now official: it will publish articles on the race starting next March, followed by a detailed post-event report.

The last, but not least, innovation regards the venue, in fact it will be the first time for Ala, one of the most technical and fun tracks, able to make the best of new Honda motorisations.

This ups-and-downs circuit is famous for an initial fast downhill bend, which the drivers will challenge over 1400 times throughout the session. By applying such remarkable changes, Birel 24 Hour will also confirm its strong points, like single technical management by Birel Motorsport for all the karts deploy for the competition: the vehicles will be assigned at random and a single support centre will be set up during the race for handling refuelling, too.

Top logistics standards are confirmed once again, with a vast Hospitality area including race secretariat and chill-out facility, pit lane equipped with timing monitors and infrastructures for the night.

A free technical clothing hire service will also be available, while teams that require custom suits with their own sponsor colours can take advantage of a special agreement with MIR, technical partner of the event.

Race enrolment will officially open on Thursday 1 March and close when the 38 teams target is reached (which is the maximum the circuit can host, logistics and space wise). Fee per team (4 to up to 10 drivers) is Euro 3,900.00 + VAT, karting licence holders must be at least 13 years old , while minimum age for drivers without a licence is 18 (this category must apply for a daily licence directly on the track).
