With the 2009 main Championships seasons almost drawing to a close details of the new Birel 2010 chassis have been released. The 2010 Birel chassis to challenge the world's karting catagories will be known as the RY30 - S2.
During 2009 the Birel motorsport team have tested many combinations of chassis, focusing on balance and more lateral grip. Of course overall performance is always the key but the 2010 model will deliver a more easy approach to any level of driver. This is important as not every driver can run with a professional team.
The RY30 S2 doesn't look visually much different to its predecessor the S1 but major changes in the tube construction have resulted in a higher grip base and re designed geometry for the support of the stub axles.
The stub axles castor and camber can now be adjusted more easily with a totally new system compared to the old one. It will be a quicker change for the mechanic and more precise with the eccentric castor bushes maintained by closing a small screw to accuratley fix its position.
Over the last 6 weeks ACR have been lucky enough to take part in the evaulation of the 2010 chassis and have tested the prototypes at the PF International track.
The results were exceptional with 44.3 being achieved in KF2 beating the lap record on Bridgestone YGB and in Rotax Max 45.5 being achieved on the Vega SL6,very close to the lap record.
Both test drivers confirmed the increased balance and lateral grip and the ease in which it drove. During the test little adjustments were made which illustrates the 2010 RY30 - S2 will be quick straight out of the box and very easy to work with.
2010 will see a new color of pods in the pearl white colour. These pods have been re constructed and with the supports are now 1.30kgs lighter.
All Birel Motorsports karts will be available with the Birel HQ graphic set, magniesium wheels, Freeline HQ Motorsport foot rest as standard.
Production of the 2010 RY30 S2 started this week in the Birel HQ is Lissone. The first batch of karts is expected in the UK in the middle of November with orders now being taken.
