MSA British Championship KF3 : RD 2 Shenington
Macaulay Walsh (Ulitmate Motorsport) continues to impress with every outing. The youngster from Northampton showed real steel and determination at the British Championship Round 2 Shenington - a quality which is not easily found.
Walsh (Birel RY30/Iame) drove conservatively in the heats with two 3rd places, having looked after his tyres he was placed on grid 5 for the first final. As the green flag was raised from the starting grid it was disaster for Walsh as a bearing in his starter motor failed and he failed to start ! Unfazed by this incident Macaulay was to start at the back of the grid for Final 2, but alas his luck was against him again as on the start another driver came across his line and put Walsh into a spin leaving him last and almost 300 metres behind the rear of the pack.
What followed was an incredible drive as Walsh kept his cool and calmly caught the pack and one by one overtook more and more drivers, his Birel swept round the corners with ease and carried him through the field to a fantastic 5th place and fastest lap of the race. An impressive drive !
