In Super KF some technical problems downsize Birel pilots ambitions, while in KF2 Patrono won a positive podium.
SUZUKA - The Asian transfer of Birel team had started uphill soon before the team arrived in Japan. A part of race motors, indeed, due to a problem with the air shipment did not arrive, forcing Birel Motorsport to cope with the race without a significant part of the technical equipment. The mistake generated a lot of nerviness in the team and the objective handicap of finding some emergency solution on-site. Once the race week end started, there was a problem in the pneumatics adaptation which ended up in a difficult qualification for all the Birel pilots, above all in the main class, Super KF. In Pre-Final, the race that after qualification rounds determines the starting grid for the World Cup and outlines clearly the values, Grince has immediately gone out of the scene, while the first Birel pilot was Cesetti with his 12th placement. Soon after him, with quite similar performances, there were Parrot and Toman, while De Brabander won. In Final, Cesetti started very well and soon gained the firsts wake, but unfortunately a technical broken down forced him to retire after only 4 laps. The fight of the very first laps penalized Toman who bumped from 13th position to the 21st during the 5th lap. The Czech, 2nd last year in the World Cup and also in the KF1 World Cup, started his recovery till ended up the race in the 15th position, soon after his team mates Kawabata and Katsuta. A lot better for Janson Parrott who ended up in 8th placement with a very good competition, coming up from the 12th position thanks to a double overtaking of Bressen and Hanley. De Brabander won the race, first against Renaudie.
In KF2 Viganò, Suvanto and Patrono expressed themselves on great levels, ended up the race in 5th, 6th and 11th placement. In Pre-Final, Meheta took Birel Pacific colors to the 10th placement. The winning and the starting pole for the Final of the Asian Pacific race, had been gained by the English Cooper, before Tiene. In any case, the analysis of all the values in race told that at list five pilots would have fight for the podium. An amongst these, Patrono and Viganò for sure. This forecast had been confirmed by a hard and exciting race, where Giacomo Patrono sprang up to the 4th place soon after Cooper, Beretta and Tiene. Viganò, run from the 9th placement at the end of the 1st lap, but soon at the 3rd lap he was in the 7th position, overtaking Taylor and Kanamaru. The end of the race arrived only at the 21st lap when the group was still in the lead: Tiene overtook Cooper who has been overtaken also by Baretta and Patrono. Tiene won then the Asian Pacific 2009 title, but Patrono ending up on 3rd position, soon after Beretta gave a great result to Birel colors in an international meeting. Smarrazzo, after trying to overtake Patrono, ended up in 4th place and, while Viganò closed his race in the 7th position. Very good also the 13th place of Suto, while Suvanto was forced to retire because of a bad contact during the first laps.
