The RY30-S2

Is the latest innovation of kart presented by Birel. The chassis will spearhead our 2010 product line up and it’s design and concept is radically different – yet simple; whilst still a Birel through and through its design is a result of ever changing tyre technology and challenging track conditions and more importantly a client’s need of a kart chassis which performs straight out of the box with little setup required.

To achieve this brief the Birel designers have looked at key areas and have researched new 30mm steel technologies that have resulted in a chassis that has more lateral grip and better braking balance. Another important attribute is the RY30S2 chassis is a very high grip yield and yet the tyre wear is not compromised. The design has been tested with effective results with differing compounds of tyre makes Vega, Bridgestone and Dunlop and Mojo.

The front of the chassis has seen only the need for one short torsion bar, the length and tensile studied to work

 in harmony with the flex and characteristics of the 30mm tubing of the RY30 S2.  The castor angle of the frame has been increased and the castor adjustors simplified so that can be adjusted more easily and locked into a particular postion with a small retaining screw.

The Stub axles have seen clever evolution mainly aimed at tyre wear. It is now possible to change just the spindle shaft of the stub axle. There will be different tensile of shaft available – similar to rear axle grade which will allow you to change the characteristic of deflection of the front wheel in contact with the track. With this system you can carefully control your tyre consumption. Another positive in this new stub axle design is that after a result of an accident it is more probable that only the spindle shaft may need changing and not the entire stub axle assembly. To give the wheel hubs more support on the shaft the bearing size has also increased from 17mm to 25mm. Each kart is supplied with the exclusive tool to remove the hub from the stub axle.

Another new welcome addition to the design of the 2010 RY30 S2 kart is the New HQ foot rest support. This is included with the kart and mounts to the steering column support easily.

The bodywork has achieved a weight loss of nearly 1.5kg and is complimented by alighter weight Birel HQ sticker set which is also included with the kart, Its striking new design and cut you will certainly make you noticed on the grid and on the track in 2010
